POTENTIALLY, it looked the quietest week of the season.

But it was Rangers who were the stars, as they won a pulsating Recreational Open tournament while also taking a giant leap towards another league title.

Last week’s top-of-the-table clash in the Co-ed Division One was intriguingly poised at 7-6 to Rangers against top of the table Tornadoes in a must-win clash.

If the league leaders had won, then the title would have been all but theirs, but a win for the red-and-blacks would level things at the top.

That is what happened, with Rangers hitting 14 runs in their fifth and sixth innings, giving them a vital 21-12 lead, which they did not relinquish, affording them a priceless victory.
