ANIMAL welfare campaigners will gather outside the Royal Court this morning to lobby States members for updated cruelty laws.

Backing for a new campaign group – which was launched yesterday – has come from animal protection groups, clubs and the public.

Supporters of Sue Vidamour’s group, Promoting Animal Welfare, will be handing out leaflets to deputies detailing incidents of animal cruelty as they head into this month’s States meeting.

Grandmother Ann Nettleship will be among them. She said a campaign was long overdue.

‘Perhaps now with Paw we may be able to give it a kick-start.’
