Beere, Lloyd heading to Delhi

Lucy BeereGUERNSEY’S Commonwealth Games squad has increased by two after confirmation that Lucy Beere and Gayle Lloyd will be able to compete in Delhi.

The current Commonwealth Games Federation eligibility requirement is for a competitor to be resident in their nation for five years prior, which both fell slightly short of.

But in a release yesterday, Guernsey Commonwealth Games Association chairman Peter Sirett announced that both bowler Beere and badminton’s Lloyd will be travelling in October after all having been given dispensation by the CGF.

And Beere (pictured), who will be considered a strong medal hope alongside partner Gwen de la Mare, was delighted with the news.
