JOSH KENDAL was the star as Optimists lifted themselves off the bottom of the Division One table with a thrashing of St Saviour’s last night.

Chasing an unlikely 182 to win the game, St Saviour’s collapsed to 24 for five, Kendal picking up all five after only five overs to all but win the match for his team.

Owen Brock was the only batsman to offer some sort of resistance, being one of only two even to reach double figures, scoring 20 before falling to Andre Bisson.

Their 72 all out fell more than a hundred runs short of the Optimists total, which was established from Adrian Gidney’s brilliant 35-ball knock of 67.
