Fare is fair – savings body backs rise to £1

THE Financial Transformation Programme has fully endorsed proposed bus fare rises.
The Environment Department intends to increase the cost of a single journey to £1.
The Bus Users’ Group has launched an online consultation to see how the public feels about the proposals, and criticised the amount of time Environment gave them to respond.
The FTP’s deputy programme director Alastair Bisson said more substantial price increases were also examined but were rejected on the grounds that they would unfairly pass the cost of delivering the service onto customers.
