Fewer disputes as economy picks up

THERE has been a substantial fall in the number of employment tribunal cases logged so far this year.
By last August 52 cases had been logged with the tribunal service but by the start of June this year only 19 had been submitted, 12 of which were going through conciliation.
AO Hall partner advocate Elaine Gray (pictured) said that although this year’s statistics covered a shorter period, they nonetheless represented a substantial reduction.
‘This seems to reflect the fact that the markets have largely stabilised following the global recession.
‘This is certainly the trend which we are seeing in terms of the legal advice we’re being asked to give on employment matters.’
