PUNK ROCK came to Cobo yesterday for the latest balcony gig.

It was the second to be held this year. In May, it was feared the concerts might not go ahead this year after police initially refused to close the road without the Cobo Bay Hotel applying for an alfresco licence, a process which could have cost it £1,000.

But the Environment Department intervened and got the police to close the road on its behalf.

About 300 people saw local band Funk Andrew and UK punk-rock group The Reoffenders yesterday.

It was a smaller turnout than for the year’s first gig on 31 May, at which more than 2,000 islanders showed their support for the events.
