PUBLIC SERVICES has refused to disclose how much it spent on two staff who were suspended during an investigation into alleged fraud at the tip.

The two employees were arrested in May of last year but police recently discontinued their enquiries and the pair have now returned to work.

A department spokesman said they were suspended on full pay for around 13 months, in line with normal practice, but would not reveal their pay.

One extra member of staff was also taken on to cover their duties and remains employed by States Works.

Using an average States Works salary of £32,700, the cost of the suspensions and extra member of staff would have seen the department pay out almost £100,000.
