THREE men are due to appear in the Magistrate’s Court this morning in connection with Tuesday’s £200,000 smash-and-grab raid on Pollet jewellers N. St J. Paint & Sons.

Two locals are charged with burglary or alternatively with handling stolen goods. The other man, who is not local, faces similar counts plus another charge of possessing a controlled drug.

Police yesterday confirmed the arrests of men aged 26 and 27 with local addresses and a 40-year-old with an English address at about 1pm on Tuesday in the public area of the Rockmount Hotel, Cobo.

Among the items stolen was a kilo gold bar worth around £26,000. Some of the valuables had been recovered, police said.
