ST PIERRE hardly needed to get out of second gear to wrap up a comfortable seven-wicket win over Optimists last night at Port Soif.

Even their top scorer, Tom Kimber, was the first to admit that he was far from his fluent best, but he still managed to rack up another half century in pursuit of victory.

In truth, though, Saints were not set the most testing of targets.

Claiming the crucial scalp of Andy Biggins, who missed a drive at a straight delivery from Ollie Lepp in just the third over of the evening, set Saints on their way.

The rest of the Optimists top order all chipped in with runs, but no one went on to make a big score as some steady bowling kept the batsmen subdued.
