TONY VANCE has said he will give more players an opportunity to play for the island side next season if the representative programme pans out as he hopes.

On the day the first draft of GFA fixtures went out to clubs, the island manager admitted that next season could be a bit of a squeeze as representative football takes on a more regular look.

‘It is going to be a balancing act,’ he said yesterday.

‘But I have identified a list of approximately 40 players who I feel are more than capable of playing at island level and depending on the number of fixtures we have and depending on who is available, it will open the door for others.’

Additional Guernsey friendly games are not included in the fixture list released, but Vance is confident they will happen and if so he will not necessarily raid the top teams to find players, nor will players be debarred from playing for clubs so that they can train with the island team.
