CULTURE AND LEISURE came to the rescue after a Vale Infants’ School trip to the Vale Castle had to be cancelled.
The reception-class pupils had been due to visit the site earlier this month but there was too much broken glass.
However, the department stepped in and offered the school a tour of Castle Cornet instead – and 48 pupils took that up yesterday.
Guernsey Museums access and learning manager Jo Dowding said the department knew the children had been upset about the cancelled trip.
‘It was really [Culture and Leisure chief officer] Dave Chilton’s idea to invite them to Castle Cornet as they were so disappointed about the glass at Vale Castle,’ she said.
