IT WAS a close run thing, but Bobby Eggo (pictured) has added another Royal Guernsey Club Championship title to his CV.
The defending champion was one of three players to complete Sunday’s 36-hole, RG Falla-sponsored competition on a scratch aggregate of 144, but claimed the honours on countback to secure his 13th club championship in 17 years.
His opening round of 73 included birdies at the seventh, eighth and 10th holes although a seven at the long 14th blotted his card somewhat.
He was then three-over for front nine of his afternoon round, but birdies at 14 and 17 and no dropped shots saw him return home in an excellent two-under 33, which proved decisive.
