GUERNSEY were edged out 9-7 in this year’s inter-insular held at Jersey’s Caesarean Tennis Club.

Despite having a healthy lead at one point during the day, the Sarnians’ poor doubles performances cost them dear, with Jersey winning the last three matches of the day to retain the Bucktrout Trophy.

It all started off well for Guernsey, who had a 5-3 lead after the singles encounters, never falling behind.

Dominic McLuskey and captain Rob West opened the day with three-set victories, although defeats for Chris Hickling and Nico Robinson meant that Jersey squared the score going into the women’s singles.
