AFTER the annual Inter-insular Triathlon had to be cancelled last year, teams from Guernsey and Jersey were keen to show what they were made of at this year’s event, held last Sunday.

In all, 58 competitors set off from Pembroke Bay to complete the Olympic distance race, which comprised a 1,500m swim followed by a 40km cycle and finished with a 10km run.

The 40 local competitors and the 18 from Jersey made for an impressive starting line-up which included Caesarean Daniel Halksworth, who has already put in some excellent performances on the UK professional circuit this season.

Unfortunately for the Guernsey team, top athletes Alan Rowe and Sam Herridge were unavailable for the race.
