Watson set for return in Wrexham event

HEATHER WATSON is set to be seeded sixth on her return to competitive action.

The Sarnian, who has been suffering from an abdominal muscle injury since her senior debut at Wimbledon, is one of 22 players already on the acceptance list for the main draw at next week’s $25,000 ITF event in Wrexham.

Of those players, Watson is the sixth highest in the world rankings at 249 and will start her campaign on either Tuesday or Wednesday depending on the draw.

It has also been announced the 18-year-old’s sponsorship deal with locally-based Sportingbet has come to a close at the completion of a three-year deal.
