WHILE Martin Groves was lowering the hill record on Saturday, two local drivers were shattering landmarks too.

The fastest woman ever up Le Val des Terres Jackie Guille slashed her best time and broke the 32sec. barrier for the first time, while Nick Saunders set a new best time for a Sarnian up the hill.

Although Guille’s day ended in a similar way to Groves as she crashed while striving to go even quicker, her best run of 31.88sec. in her La Villette Garage OMS was a brilliant effort and surpassed her own expectations.

‘When I got in the car for the first practice run in the morning, I was confident I could do a 31,’ she said.

‘The weather was perfect and having competed in the last five British Hill Climb Championship events in England and Scotland, I felt “at home” in the car.
