‘No sign to end of volatility’
Wednesday 21st July 2010, 2:30PM BST.
THE Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment’s new Guernsey president expects volatility in the investment landscape to remain for some time to come.
Justin Oliver, an investment director and deputy chairman of Collins Stewart’s asset allocation and fund selection committees, has taken over in the two-year CISI role from Rupert Stow.
But despite the volatility he expects, Mr Oliver, 38 (pictured), is still confident that equity markets could move meaningfully higher in the short term and that they will end 2010 in positive territory.
‘This confidence is dependent on the world avoiding a double-dip recession and our expectation in this regard is that while the most dynamic phase of the expansion may have passed, the global economy will ultimately settle into a steady, slightly anaemic, growth path. We do not expect a further recession to take hold.’
