Scooter rider jailed for causing fatal crash

A seventeen-year-old scooter rider who admitted causing the death of an 11-year-old boy in a crash last year has been sentenced to two years’ youth detention.

Callum Eborall was killed in May 2009 as he crossed Les Banques road.

In the Royal Court, Reece Ogier, 17, admitted causing death by dangerous driving.

A supervision order on release was also imposed.

He was banned from holding a driving licence for seven years.

Jason Gilbert, 20, admitted riding in a manner dangerous to the public.

He was sentenced to 150 hours community service or an alternative of nine months in prison and received an 18-month driving ban.

Craig Mollet, 18, admitted riding in a manner dangerous to the public.

He was sentenced to 120 hours’ community service or six months in prison with an 18-month riding ban.

A ban on naming Ogier, a juvenile, was lifted by the court.
