ALTHOUGH Guernsey were only two short of their own record score in the Kolapore match at Bisley, it was not good enough to match a superb score from Jersey, who dropped just nine points over three ranges with an eight-man team.
The Guernsey VIII got off to a cracking start at 300 yards with five members of the team scoring maximum points, 50 ex 50, but Jersey, with some outstanding shooting, pulled ahead by three points, level with Great Britain.
Nick Branch and Rob Waters, for Guernsey, also put all their shots in the bullseye at 500 yards and the two islands posted equal team scores before moving back to 600 yards.
It was at this distance that Guernsey were not able to maintain the consistency of their earlier performance, but Jersey barnstormed their way to second place behind Great Britain and ahead of Australia.
