The company said the resignation was a mutual decision which was taken ‘due to a difference of opinion regarding the future direction of the company’.

Neither Guernsey Post or Mr Steele would comment further on the reasons for his departure but the latest annual report revealed the company had one of its toughest years ever.

I hope some of the other “consultants” at Guernsey Post will also resign, and let Guernsey Post become really commercial (less overheads etc) in the interests of their customers. Back to core business and core values please.

I suspect the difference of opinion was that Gordon thought OUR’s Ming the Merciless was about to completely ruin Guernsey Post while Carla McNutty believes the sun shines out of his a*se

I applaud your phrase “Back to core business and core values please”, this is clearly whats needed at GP.

But unfortunately given the excessive beurocracy that exists at GP (and is becoming massively prevalent everywhere else too) I cannot see it happening any time soon.

Fo every 1 excellent driven talented business leaders, there are 10 Gordon Steele’s.

Expect to see them diversify into Tanning Shops and Building Supplies next.

As an ex Guernsey Post employee, who’s 10 years service with the company ended during Mr Steele’s reign, I can honestly say that I am absolutely delighted with this news!!!

It is great to hear that Guernsey Post will now be run by a Guernsey person with undoubtedly the best interests of both the staff and paying customer at heart!

Hopefully long gone are the days of important decisions being made with certain peoples personal interests being the driving factor!

I for one look forward to a bright new future for the business with it being run by hard working people!

Oh how right you are! But the good news is that now the self obsessed Steel has gone, we have a real diamond as our boss. And he’s a local that understands the business. Straight talking, honest, will focus on the core business, reduce costs big time, stop all the vanity projects, and kiss goodbye to the consultants. Going to be a tough year, but the place is buzzing!

Happy days. One English contractor gone another 5 or so to go throug the Envoy House. The man was not committed to Guernsey, rented a flat and was your typical jobbing CEO.

860k playing at banker boy? That’s you and our money people of Guernsey? Resigned he should been kicked out.

Good luck to the Boley. Can you get Jo back please mate?
