HEATHER WATSON has seen her world ranking drop despite winning the second ITF tournament of her career at the weekend.

The 18-year-old Sarnian’s 6-2, 6-4 success over Indian Sania Mirza in Wrexham meant that Watson’s first $25k tournament win added to her success at Frinton in a $10k event last year.

The youngster did not drop a set throughout her five matches, and the title was sealed impressively by beating Mirza, who has been ranked as high as number 27 in the world less than three years ago.
