Neves grabs gold

KRISTINA NEVES smashed her personal best to claim first place in the 1,500m freestyle for 13-year-old girls on the opening day of the British Gas ASA National Age Group Championships yesterday.

The category was decided on a heat-declared-winner basis and the Guernsey Swimming Club starlet was in the last heat at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.

London 2012, who will be on the Starting Blocks? Kristina – with the experience of Dehli behind her – or the ‘established’ swimmers who ‘don’t have the benfit of youth’ on their side anymore!
