Neves grabs gold

KRISTINA NEVES smashed her personal best to claim first place in the 1,500m freestyle for 13-year-old girls on the opening day of the British Gas ASA National Age Group Championships yesterday.

The category was decided on a heat-declared-winner basis and the Guernsey Swimming Club starlet was in the last heat at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.
