GuernseyFinance makes lasting mark in China
Wednesday 11th August 2010, 2:30PM BST.
THE China Trademark Office has given its approval for GuernseyFinance’s new Chinese trademark for Guernsey.
The promotional body for the island’s finance industry overcame the complicated trademark issues in the country with the help of branding, interpretation and translation company KL Communications.
It means GuernseyFinance has successfully registered Guernsey, finance and island in one package and made it difficult for other similar locations to associate themselves with finance.
The nearest equivalent already registered is the City of London, which is known in China as London Finance City.
‘This level of detail may seem quite small but will have a huge significance in China,’ said GuernseyFinance chief executive Peter Niven (pictured).
