Watson into second round

HEATHER WATSON eased into the second round of the ITF $25,000 event in Tallinn, Estonia, yesterday.
The Sarnian overcame China’s Sheng-Nan Sun 6-1, 6-2 in her opening match at the hard court tournament.
The Chinese player is ranked No. 248 in the world compared to Watson at 219th.
However, the Sarnian’s second round match looks set to be more challenging as she meets Elena Chalova.
The 23-year-old Russian is the world No. 181 and is seeded three in this tournament.
In her opening round match, Chalova defeated 14-year-old Anett Kontaveit from Estonia 6-1, 6-3.
