Branch’s brilliance at 600 yards seals silver medal
Thursday 12th August 2010, 2:29PM BST.
ONLY a single point covers the top four marksmen following the second stage of the Guernsey Full-bore Rifle Championship.
Fired in blustery winds and in the absence of first stage winner Peter Jory, it was Nick Branch (pictured) who took the silver medal with a score of 147.20 ex 150.30.
A good start of 49.05 at 300 yards saw Branch trailing Phil Ogier on 49.08, but both were eclipsed by B class shooter Ollie Collas, who recorded a superb 50.08.
Richard Perkins and Rob Waters, the only other serious contenders for the championship, kept in the running with scores of 49.04 and 49.03 respectively.
