Excited Loveridge aiming for a medal

GUERNSEY ace Alice Loveridge is set for a baptism of fire at this month’s inaugural Youth Olympic Games – but insists she will be able to handle the competition in Singapore.
While football and cricket dominate the back pages on home shores, table tennis is among Singapore’s national sports, with their women’s squad recently crowned world champions with victory over arch rivals China in Moscow.
The best the junior world has to offer will converge on the Lion City this week with 16-year-old Loveridge (pictured) flying the Union Jack, having been selected as one of 39 Brits to make the trip to the Far East.
But having claimed victory in one of three qualifying tournaments in Egypt, Loveridge believes she can have hopes of returning from Singapore with some silverware to declare.
