Transport strategy requete withdrawn

Thursday 12th August 2010, 2:29PM BST.

Deputy Matt FallaizeA REQUETE calling for a review of the road transport strategy and bus fare increase has been withdrawn.

Matt Fallaize, who was behind the petition, said he had done so because Environment had told deputies it was happy to re-examine the strategy, but would not postpone the bus fare rise.

The requete had called for fares to be kept to below the level of inflation before a full report on the road transport strategy in June 2011.

But the department had ignored the motion and a request from 23 members not to press ahead with the fare rise from 60p to £1 on 1 August.
