King crowned as all her hard work pays dividends

GAIL KING beat the defending champion by six-and-a-half minutes to win the World Quadrathlon Championship.
Conditions at the race on Saturday in Sedlcany, Czech Republic, were very wet, although not cold or windy, and the torrential rain made conditions in the bike section particularly treacherous.
Having twice finished in the top 10 in the World Age Group Triathlon Championships and also being a former world medallist for Great Britain as part of the canoe slalom team, the swim, canoe, bike, run format was always likely to suit King.
However, in 2009 the winner Hana Svarcova from the Czech Republic had trounced the opposition in impressive style beating previous winners and was thus likely to be a tough opponent.
