Football needs to work even harder

IIT IS potentially one of the best seasons ever in Guernsey football.
That is how GFA chairman Mark Le Tissier (pictured) describes it, as the new campaign kicks off in earnest today.
The Martinez Cup between Bels and Rangers may be a friendly curtain-raiser, but it is next month that will illustrate the changing landscape of the local game.
Tony Vance’s island team will travel to Croatia for the Uefa Regions Cup, the biggest competition in local history. If they can win that, they will face another round in April, before a possible finals tournament in Spain next summer.
