A GUERNSEY woman has described how she was held up at knifepoint by Tanzanian authorities while leading a charity group working in the country.
Jade Farrell has just returned to Guernsey after travelling throughout Africa while helping with community projects.
The 21-year-old was in Tanzania after leading a group of walkers on an expedition up Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Save the Children – she had completed the challenge two years ago so this time went back as a group leader.
After completing the climb – and enjoying a few days of rest – the group set off to help with a conservation project run by charity Tukae. But the group’s bus was pulled over on a mountain dirt track by a car full of ‘big, official-looking men’.
