LOCAL classical musicians were playing in unusual places across Guernsey and Herm on Saturday.

The Arts Commission called upon various performers to take part in its ‘music to you’ initiative.

The aim was to promote live music in places people would not normally find it. Musicians took to Beau Sejour, the Co-op in St Martin’s, Checkers, the airport and Shell Beach, and several other venues.

Violinist Nicolle Wyatt, 23, was asked to perform for 45 minutes in the perfumery department in Creaseys.

‘I think it’s fab,’ she said. ‘Spreading classical music to the masses when they’re least expecting it – I think it is a great idea.’
