THE title of the island’s best after-dinner speaker will be decided later this year.

The After-Dinner Speaker of the Year Award, the first event of its kind in Guernsey, takes place in November at the OGH Hotel.

The competition will see a maximum of 12 speakers go head to head on a subject of their choice.

The speakers, who will be one person nominated from each table of 10 at the event, have to be resident in Guernsey and will have five minutes to talk on any topic they wish, apart from their work.
