JAN CHAMBERLAIN mastered the difficult conditions yesterday to claim the Royal Guernsey Ladies’ Club Championship.

The Channel Islands champion was the only player to shoot a sub-80 gross round at L’Ancresse and she did so by an outstanding six shots to claim the Canivet Trophy.

Chamberlain’s 36-hole aggregate of 155 (81 and 74) saw her finish four shots clear of the field.

First-round leader Sue Wellfair was the next best on the day, adding an 81 to her opening 78 in taking second prize off scratch.
