‘They ignored my warning over park’s cut-throat tape’

A MOTHER warned Environment that tape around trees in Saumarez Park could be dangerous just weeks before a three-year-old boy was injured on it, it was claimed yesterday.
Donna Gaudion’s son, Pearce Le Poidevin, 3, featured in the Guernsey Press on Tuesday after cycling into the tape and injuring his neck.
Now Ellie Crabb has come forward saying the same thing happened to her child a few weeks earlier – and she reported it.
The 26-year-old mum of three said Mason, aged 2, had his accident at the park on 26 July. Her husband had been there and told how the little boy just rode off the path and caught the tape on the side of his neck. The youngster was left with three marks that looked like friction burns on the side of his neck, she said.
Bookkeeper Mrs Crabb said she spoke to someone at the Environment Department the next day to complain about the tape, used to protect valuable trees and plants during the summer show season. The aim is to stop vehicles being parked or driven underneath and damaging them.

There is a perfectly valid reason why they ignored you, two in fact
ITS PERFECTLY VSIBLE
ITS NOT DANGEROUS FOR ANYONE WITH AN OUNCE OF COMMON SENSE

What a silly thing to say really, you know nothing of the nature of two year olds. You clearly don’t had and kids, well don’t ever take them out ever if you do.

No John
I dont have kids….. anymore, they are gown up now!
They occasionally got hurt when they were little as all children do, but I’d like to think that I did a pretty good job of identifying potential dangers.
And I certainly didnt go round moaning and complaining everytime something that is only a danger if you are not paying proper attention crops up!
Otherwise I’d be writing letters every other day!

I totally agree John Lee!
What a stupid thing to say

John Lee – judging by the spelling and grammar in your post, I can only assume you are a two year old. Therefore I would like to take this opportunity to warn you of some tape that has been put around some trees in the park. We wouldn’t want you hurting yourself like the other two poor little tykes!
Dave Haslam – I agree with you entirely
More non-news from the GP.
Now there is a sexual predator on the loose, our local column inches can hopefully be taken up with something relevant. No more mothers trying to blame away their own inabilities.

Ponderous
Why such a personal attack on someone just because of their spelling?

Could you please back up your comments please??
What I said was not stupid in the slightest. At least John Lee (albeit completely incorrectly) tried to back up his comment.
bcb – no need to be so oversensitive. My comments to Mr Lee were in no way a personal attack – purely tongue-in-cheek. It can be difficult to express sarcasm or (dare I say) wit in these posting forums.

Well purely for the fact of you saying a 2 year old having common sense unless I read this wrong and you mean the parents…
If this was me at the park with my daughter then I would have kept a close enough eye on her to make sure she didn’t ride into the tape, if this is what you meant then I would agree.

Sam
Yes I meant the parents. Sorry if it was ambiguous.

Oh I see…then I apologise for saying it was a stupid thing to say :0)

I hope all you people off to the North show are on razor tape alert, could be a dangerous couple of days.

Kid’s play and they get hurt. It is part and parcel of growing up.
Today’s world is too sanitised and too PC.
I suppose if this child had rode into a tree the mother would want the tree cut down or if the child had eaten a worm she would want all the grass in the park dug up and rubber matting put down.
Let the children grow up naturally. I certainly let my children explore and experiment whilst keeping a watchfull eye for real dangers.
