We could make things clearer, say planners over signs row

If a sign blocks a public path, forces people to walk in the road, or poses a danger to traffic, a complaint can be made to Environment or the police if it is causing a serious risk. (1008767)
THE display-boards campaign has chalked up another victory with news that planners will now create a new ‘user-friendly’ guide.
The move follows a number of stories in the Guernsey Press featuring islanders and businesses. They were prompted by Le Coq du Nord licensee Tony Smyth being told to take down a chalkboard sign in the car park advertising breakfasts, which was said to be breaching planning laws.
Others came forward to sympathise and said they, too, had been left confused, frustrated and out of pocket by the rules.
But the Guernsey Press has now met a team of Environment officials, including director of planning control services Jim Rowles, who confirmed they would act to ease the confusion.

” We have a dedicated team to assist with this”
