Bodman continues her rapid progression
Friday 20th August 2010, 2:29PM BST.
ERICA BODMAN claimed a fifth place at the World University Championships at the culmination of only her second season in the sport.
The Guernsey girl was representing Great Britain in one of the toughest events – the women’s singles sculls – in Szeged, Hungary, at a challenging competition that included Olympic finalists and saw temperatures reach 37C with changeable winds.
Friday 13th proved a lucky day for Bodman when she raced her heat.
In a brisk cross-tailwind, she finished second behind Italy’s Laura Schiavone, a 2008 Olympian.
