Mystery benefactor helps salvage Havelet wreck

A 107-year-old boat which was due to be chopped into pieces has been saved from Havelet Bay and will be restored.
Last month, strong gales dragged the 60ft pilchard vessel PZ211 from its moorings into the Castle Emplacement, where it sank.
At the time, owner Claude Van-Martyn launched an appeal for anyone who could meet the cost of shipping and restoring the vessel, which he said was of historic value.
He said he might have to chop the boat up with a chainsaw if nobody stepped forward.
But yesterday an unnamed person came to its rescue at the eleventh hour.
