Island eyes on Hungary

Tony VanceGUERNSEY’S players may not start their quest for European glory until next month, but events in Hungary in less than a fortnight’s time will play a significant role.

Tony Vance’s men play their Uefa Regions Cup preliminary round group in Croatia from 24 to 28 September, in what is one of three groups at this stage. All three group winners are guaranteed progression to the next round, as well as the two best second placed teams.

It means that even if Vance’s team finish runners-up in Croatia, they will be guaranteed qualification so long as they better what the runner-up in Hungary did.

Vance (pictured) admits it could be both a help and hindrance not having to rely on other results after the conclusion in Croatia.
