Group to set drafting targets as law spends a decade in pipeline

THE Policy Council will from next year set Law Officers quarterly targets for drafting legislation.
This comes after deputies were informed in last week’s Billet d’Etat that 39 pieces of approved legislation were still waiting to be written – some as much as 10 years old.
Chief Minister Lyndon Trott (pictured) said that to fulfil its mandate for prioritising the States legislative programme, the Policy Council was establishing an advisory group.
The prioritisation of legislation working group will consist of three senior Law Officers and two civil servants.
