Matt stymied by his big brother

MATT LE TISSIER’S hopes of turning out for Vale Rec again in their veteran’s side have been quashed by the GFA rule book.
Matt’s brother and Rec senior coach Carl last week confirmed that the ex-Southampton and England star had agreed to turn out on occasions this coming season.
However, one of their other brothers, the GFA chairman Mark, said that rule D6 precluded Matt from turning out for the club he played for until he moved to the UK aged 16.
That rule states: ‘All competitions shall be restricted to players who, at the time of playing, are permanently resident in the Bailiwick, save for members of HM forces or a student undergoing full-time education or training outside the Bailiwick who at the same time retains a permanent residence in the Bailiwick.’
