Merrien downs Beere in a classic De Putron final

MOUTH-WATERING it promised to be and it did not disappoint.
The Corbet Field de Putron Island Singles clash between Alison Merrien and Lucy Beere promised to be special, and it was.
Merrien eventually triumphed 21-17 and admitted landing her sixth island title, but first in four years, was hard work.
‘It was all under control,’ Merrien chuckled, as she looked back on being well down in the early stages.
