BUSINESSES in the north of the island are warned to be on their guard after a series of break-ins.

Sports clubs in particular are being told to be extra vigilant after three were targeted in as many weeks.

North Club and the Vale Rec at Corbet Field were broken into overnight on 9 August and Rovers was also targeted overnight on Monday. Alcohol and tobacco were stolen from the KGV early yesterday.

Other businesses in the north have also come under fire over the summer – Expressions hair studio at the Bakery Complex at L’Islet in the early hours of 1 July, the Houmet Tavern on 21 July and Fletcher’s Freesias on both 21 July and overnight on 12 August.

‘These incidents are being linked, mainly because of their locations in the island,’ said Inspector Tom Makins of Guernsey Police. He said it was likely a break-in at Rangers Football Club in St Andrew’s overnight on 24 July was also linked.
