Fitting U-25 climax for Dan

DAN DE LA MARE capped an excellent individual bowls finals weekend by winning the Bell Under-25 Singles title in his last year in the age group.

The new Elliott Singles champion started out in determined mood in his match against Kris Bichard, opening up an 8-1 lead after six ends.

His opponent responded with some excellent bowls to win the next three ends and narrow the gap, before de la Mare put a sequence of his own together and held a 16-5 advantage after 15.

Bichard picked up his draw and enjoyed a 1-2-1-1 run, but de la Mare was in no mood to lose his last domestic under-25 match and scored a 2-1-2 sequence to win the match 21-10 and with it claim a CI final and British Isles Championship place.
