‘MR GUERNSEY’ is limbering up for tomorrow’s Sportingbet Marathon.

Keen runner Kent Guernsey from Annapolis, Maryland, is on his first trip to the island that shares his name after discovering it staged its own marathon.

The 52-year-old is staying for five days and says he is enjoying dashing about to see everything the place has to offer.

He may, of course, not feel quite so lively after taking part in the 26.1-mile island course tomorrow.

Yesterday, the American visitor was down at Footes Lane checking out the preparations. He explained that his wife had been the driving force behind the visit.

    I hope he knows how dangerous the last 4 miles are being on open roads when you are very tired and impatient motorists share the highway.
