JERSEY’S Emily Barette stole the show at Chemin Le Roi late on Saturday afternoon, piloting Lipsco to victory in the day’s major event, the senior puissance.

From 10 original entries to an event staged on the all-weather surface as opposed to the main ring, Barette and Guernsey’s Sue Brown and Sophie Ephgrave made it through three rounds to set up a three-way battle over four fences and the closing wall standing at 5ft 5in.

Brown’s Matcho S was first to go but collected four faults with a refusal at the spread first time.

Brown took Matcho S around for a successful second attempt but, despite clearing the wall, the damage had been done.
