Ghostly goings-on at Mirus benefit Nolan trust

Monday 30th August 2010, 2:29PM BST.

Medium Chris ConwayTHE Mirus Battery was the setting for a charity ghost hunt over the weekend.

Medium Chris Conway, formerly of Living TV show Most Haunted, took 37 people on an overnight ghost hunt in the Second World War battery’s number-four gun emplacement to raise money for the Anthony Nolan Trust.

It was not the first ghost hunt at the site, the most recent having been in June by some of the same people.

The extensive bunker is normally used by Battletec for war games and its operators have noticed strange goings-on. There have been frequent reports of a ghostly presence named Fritz.

‘The battery is different from other locations we’ve used with Most Haunted,’ said Mr Conway (pictured). ‘A lot we go to connected with the military were used by British forces. The fact this is German makes it more special.’

Wouldn’t it be more appropriate to call the ghost Ivan as he is more likely to be a Russian slave worker than a German soldier?
