HILL CLIMB organisers are hopeful that redeveloping the old Guernsey Brewery will not affect events.

The Environment Department last week released a development brief for the site at Havelet to provide guidance on what could be done with the property. The area in front of the building is also the location for the start of the hill climb.

The Guernsey Motor Cycle and Car Club’s hill climb committee chairman Ian Le Page said that developer Comprop has been in touch with the association and had so far been very helpful.

‘We have been told that boards will be going up on their property,’ he said. That would not be a problem because the club had known that the development would be going ahead before the road was resurfaced a couple of years ago.
