MARK ROBERTS has been crowned Guernsey champion after winning the first Butterfield Closed Racketball Tournament.

Roberts clinched the title in the final match against Mick Mahy with a 2-0 result at the tournament organised by the Guernsey Squash & Racketball Association at Beau Sejour.

Twenty-one competitors entered and the tournament kicked off with Paul Luxon and Chris Bourgaize engaging in a hard-fought battle before Luxon came out on top 2-1.

The latter stages featured several of the pre-tournament favourites and the semi-finals saw Roberts overcome the number three seed Geoff Ingrouille.
