OPERATING theatre staff from the Princess Elizabeth Hospital have been given a behind-the-scenes look at how equipment they use daily is produced.
Intersurgical, the Pitronnerie Road Industrial Estate-based manufacturer of medical respiratory products, invited the hospital employees for a tour of the facilities in order to give them a better idea of how devices such as filtration products, anaesthetic face masks and patient connections are put together.
But it was also to demonstrate that a lot of what they used on a regular basis was made locally.
‘I didn’t know until this visit was mentioned that what we use is made here in Guernsey,’ said Owen Griffiths.
